This is the "middle child" in the 3 shoe "Blast Family". It is a nice compromise between the top end Novablast and the "baby brother" Roadblast. It is not a "compromise" though as it has a higher heel-toe stack (12mm) and a wider toe-box area than its brothers. People who like the Saucony running shoes known for wider toe-boxes will adore this shoe. No gel in the shoe, but plenty of cushioning and a nice rebound feel plus heel to toe transition is good. Some have commented that it could use more midsole blast in the front to reduce the "road-feel" and stack to 10mm or so BUT, that would just make it a taller Roadblast or less springy Novablast. It is its own shoe and on purpose. I personally like the taller heel as I am a heel-striker by nature. It also holds up as a "distance" shoe well. It you like a wider toe-box and are a heel-striker...this shoe is for you.
