Finding Your Foot Size:
If you look at the hands of any two persons, you will notice differences in palm shape, width, length, finger length and other shapes and proportions. These slight differences make every person's hands unique. Your feet have a similar bone structure as your hands. Feet also vary in arch length, width, length and toe length, among other variances. When you wear shoes, it is important to have a proper fit for your unique feet.

To ensure a proper fit, you should have your feet measured by a Brannock Device. A Brannock Device measures toe length, arch length and foot width.

  • Toe Length: The total length of your foot.
  • Arch length: The shoe size that corresponds to the length of your arch. This may not be the same as the toe length. Although toe length is generally the same for both feet, the arch length can be very different between feet.
  • Foot width:The width of your foot. Your width may not correspond to the length of your foot. For example, it is possible to have short and wide feet or long and narrow feet.
Brannock Device:
A Brannock Device is best used by a shoe salesperson, who is trained to use it and obtain an accurate measurement of the size of your foot. Tips for fitting your shoes are as follows:
  • Have your feet measured regularly. The size of your feet changes as you grow older.
  • Have BOTH of your feet measured. Many people have one foot larger that is larger than the other foot. Fit your shoes to the largest foot.
